Sunday Worship Service - September 20, 2026
At a vulnerable moment in the life of God's people, wandering in the desert, the LORD decides to take up residence among them. He calls two artists, Bezalel and Oholiab, and fills them with his Spirit to build an ornate dwelling place for him. Today God still calls and gifts artisans of the inner life, as he comes to take up residence in us. God cares about where he lives.
And what he cares about inside us, he sends us out to do. The parable of the Good Samaritan answers a deep theological question: who is my neighbor, that I should care about him and care for him? The temple officials cared about purity, cleanliness, and holiness but not about the suffering that came across their path. A Samaritan, who had every reason not to care, becomes the icon of the one willing to see suffering, do something about it, and pay the price of his own charity. Jesus concludes, "Go and do likewise." The command echoes to us.
