Sunday Worship Service - April 2, 2023
Palm Sunday is a confusing day. We think of it – or else remember it from childhood – as a happy day of celebration. But beneath the surface there are tensions, misunderstandings, and difficult truths. Jesus knows who he is and what he has come to do, of course, but nearly everyone else is in a state of confusion about what is happening. The coming days, leading to Easter morning, will be hard for everyone. Let’s explore together how we get from the confusion of Palm Sunday, through the awful pain of Good Friday, all the way to the celebration on Easter morning. Because Palm Sunday falls on the first Sunday of the month this year, we will celebrate the Lord’s Supper – fitting in a way, because the palm waving on the way into Jerusalem leads us to see the deeper truth of what Jesus has come among us to do.
